Apart from discussing economic issues, participants at the IMF/WBG Annual Meetings had the chance to enjoy Peruvian traditional music, culture and gastronomy as part of the welcome reception held at the Magic Water Circuit in Lima.

The event saw the participation of IMF Managing Director Christine Lagarde, WBG President Jim Yong Kim, Peru’s Foreign Affairs Minister Magali Silva and representatives of different delegations staying in Lima for the Annual Meetings.

In a short ceremony, Lagarde thanked the people of Peru for their hospitality, whereas Kim highlighted the economic development the country has experienced in recent years and recalled his previous experience in Carabayllo.

Participants were delighted by several musical performances — such as marinera and huaino — a wide variety of drinks, and of course delicious Peruvian dishes.

On the other hand, Minister Silva said Peruvians feel proud their country had been selected to host such an important international event.
