A rebound of Peru’s economic activity will propel the country to 4% GDP growth this year, estimated Ana Corbacho, the International Monetary Fund's Mission Chief for Peru.

Economic perspectives for this year mark a recovery, compared to 2014 that experienced a substantial slowdown faced with external and internal shocks.

“We expect the economic activity will pick up to 4% in 2015, but in medium and long term, expansion is likely to be higher in 2016 and 2017, given the number of mining projects underway […], she told Andina news agency.

After all these years, IMF predicts that economy growth rates will be in accord with long term expectations, so expansion is expected to be more moderate as that of the past decade.

“Our estimate of what we call potential growth, which anchors those longer-term expectations, is about 4.5% annually, given the external scenario,” she added.
