Peruvian President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski along with Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) Chairman Luis Alberto Moreno participated in Hidroperu (HydroPeru) 2030 forum on Monday morning.

IDB presented innovative water and sanitation proposals for Peru to over 400 officials, businessmen and academics at the discussion group.

The event explores challenges and opportunities ahead for the water and sanitation sector for the next 15 years.

Topics being covered include water purification methods, assessment, treatments, reusing, among other global innovative trends.

Experts from Canada, Chile, among other nations present their ideas.

According to Peru’s National Sanitation Plan, coverage rose from 77% to 86% between 2011 and 2014. However, merely 88% of the population have access to water during 17 hours each day.

According to estimates, 8 million Peruvians lack access to quality drinking water. As is known, the South American country hosts 31 million inhabitants.
