In the first quarter of 2015, a natural gas compression and decompression plant will be built in the Tambillo district of the Huamanga Province with the aim of reducing high gas prices for houses and businesses in Ayacucho, Peru.

Ayacucho's Governor Wilfredo Oscorima Nuñez said the initiative will help locals realize their dream of having low priced gas at home.

He also mentioned the installation of the gas station, owned by the Regional Government of Ayacucho in partnership with a private firm, will enable customers to buy a cooking gas cylinder at a cost of S/.18 (about US$5.9) each.

Oscorima urged those living near where the plant will be located not to take advantage of this situation to increase the prices of their lands, since this hinders the materialization of the mega-project.

Finally, he informed that his recent meeting with Maria Luisa Malaga, president of the National Institute of Radio and Television of Peru, resulted in the signing of an agreement that allows live broadcast of the Carnivals, Holy Week, Independence Day and Ayacucho’s battle, which will promote the historic and cultural heritage of the region
