First-world universities open doors to Peruvian students

Peruvian students will be able to pursue their post-graduate degrees and PhDs in 554 first-world universities, backed by a national scholarship program.
"Educational institutions, including world's top 400 universities, open their doors to our qualified professionals," said the Executive Director of the National Scholarships Program and Educational Credit (Pronabec), Raul Choque.

"At present, 800 scholars are attending the most prestigious universities in the world," said the education minister during a presentation at the XV Virtual Educa International event.

While presenting the university catalog for masters and doctoral programs, Choque said scholars will be attending educational institutions in first-world countries such as the U.S., Japan, Thailand, Sweden, Switzerland, Italy, Holland, Germany, Australia, among others.

The application requirements are mandatory to be declared qualified. Among the criteria, applicants must have an address and resident in the country during the announcement for which he shall submit the respective house certificate.

They also have to demonstrate a higher academic performance during their universities studies, and must be in the upper third of their graduating class at the end of the undergraduate study that reflect their outstanding academic performance.

Being in good physical and mental health is also important in order to complete the study program, as well as having the language level required by the educational institution they apply for.

In the case of Master's studies, applicants must be up to 30 years old by December 31st 2014 of the year of application, and must have the university degree or professional qualification awarded by a recognized university validated by the National Assembly of Rectors (ARN).

In the case of PhD's studies, applicants must be up to 33 years old by December 31st 2014, and must have the Master's degree, awarded by a recognized university validated by the National Assembly of Rectors, or evidence of having completed the studies.
