Peru’s social inclusion agenda became an example to follow during the Annual Meetings of the Boards of Governors of World Bank Group (WBG) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) held in Lima on October 5-11, Finance Minister Alonso Segura stressed on Monday.

"Peru has been mentioned as example because it is a leader on social inclusion," he told RPP radio and TV station.

In this sense, the Minister affirmed the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) has highlighted Cuna Mas social program, which may serve as an example to be implemented in other countries.

"Let’s not forget that Peruvian social programs rely on ISO 9001 Certification, which strengthens the Include to Grow strategy […],” Segura pointed out.

According to the Minister, it is necessary to apply this strategy in Latin America, especially at times when the region is being hit by a difficult external situation.

"This has been a main topic at the meetings: To reduce poverty and social inequalities. The 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) by 2030 have been intensively discussed, being eliminating poverty by 2030 the main one; Peru has turned into an example," he stressed.
