Technology sales increase 45% in June, compared to a regular month, being tech gifts the favorites for Father's Day, according to a study by Penta Analytics.
June sales grow between 6% and 9%, while May's grew between 10% and 17%.
Clothing was the best-performing category in May (30%), whereas technology would be the highlight in June (45%).
Penta Analytics CEO Francisco Rojas said this month's average customer ticket is also different.
"While buyers were willing to spend about S/200 (US$61) in retail purchases in May, the average ticket would drop to S/150 (US$46)," he explained.
According to Rojas, Peruvians might invest between S/60 (US$18) and S/250 (US$76) in Father's Day gifts, depending on their socioeconomic status.
On the other hand, online sales are set to grow 15% this month, in comparison to Mother's Day, when the sector saw a 10% rise.
"This is due to the fact technology is more closely tied to e-commerce than to fashion," he continued.
Finally, he said Father's Day provides a perfect opportunity for retailers to develop a deeper understanding of their customers and their purchases.
