Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) Representative in Peru John F. Preissing said several countries are requesting social inclusion technical assistance from Peru, as they acknowledge its experience in developing social programs and other interventions.
“We have received phone calls from other countries seeking support from Peru, because they recognize its innovative potential for technologies and processes,” he pointed out.
Our country has shown that social inclusion programs and productivity projects can be combined, as is the case of the program of direct support to the poorest “Juntos” and the Foncodes’ intervention Haku Wiñay.
“These programs provide financial support to families if their members are taken to health-care centers and school; they are also given technical assistance to improve their production, particularly that of agriculture,” he underlined.
The FAO representative stressed that the experience of Qali Warma school food program will be repeated in other countries such as Haiti and Mexico.
Preissing concluded by recognizing the work of the National Institute of Agricultural Innovation (INIA), “which permanently gets new highly productive varieties of quinoa and always seeks agro-ecologically sustainable crops.”
