Expoalimentaria fair showcases Peru's high quality food export

Peru puts on display the variety and innovation in the export of food at the ongoing Expoalimentaria Fair, the largest and foremost event for the food industry in the nation, the Foreign Trade and Tourism Ministry (Mincetur) has reported.

The 6th annual edition of the most influential event of Peru’s food business began on Wednesday, 27th August, at the Jockey Club Plaza's Exhibition Centre in the nation’s capital Lima.

Boasting more than 650 top-line firms from within the country and abroad engaged in the manufacturing and supply of food products and 2,500 international buyers, the 2014’s edition of the trade fair was opened by Mincetur’s top executive, Magali Silva.

Likewise, exhibitors representing the leading food supply chains from the United States, Brazil, Mexico, Spain, Germany and China are showcasing the latest trends in technologies, services and packaged products of the food industry at the trade show which is scheduled to wrap up on Friday, 29th August.

“As in leading European fairs of the global food industry, Peru has attracted the interest of various entrepreneurs from the region and the world," Silva said while addressing the audience as the keynote speaker at the Lima exhibition.

In her opening speech address, she added, “The three-day event brings together over 480 Peruvian exhibitors which are showcasing the exportable offer of 600 products from the food sector of 23 inner regions of the country”.

Accompanying Mincetur's chief were the ministers of state of Agriculture and Irrigation, Juan Manuel Benites; Production, Piero Ghezzi, and Foreign Affairs, Gonzalo Gutierrez, while representing the entrepreneurial segment at the opening ceremony  was the President of the Exporters’ Association, Gaston Pacheco.
