The European Union mission, composed of 13 Ambassadors, arrived in northern Piura region last Wednesday to learn about the area's main economic activities, as well as hold meetings with regional, municipal and local authorities.

This official visit aims to strengthen cooperation and economic bonds. Likewise, the EU mission will highlight exportation of cacao, coffee, panela and grapes harvested in the area.

The delegation is composed of representatives of Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Romania, Spain, the Netherlands, United Kingdom and the European Union.

In this sense, EU Ambassador to Peru Irene Horejs affirmed such initiative seeks to spread knowledge about Piura, hosting the country's third-largest population. 

"We share a story of long-cooperation with the region, and we feel particularly proud to have contributed to small producers' success [...]," the diplomat indicated. 

Horejs also stressed dynamism witnessed in the area, thanks to its hard-working, warm and enterprising people.

"We are sure this European dynamism will expand. Every year, we deploy a joint mission to a specific region, and we decided to come to Piura, because we know it is a vibrant region that provides many opportunities [...]. We know Piura locals are hard-working people," she highlighted. 

The European mission will run thru June 25th, 2016.
