Entrepreneurs’ perceptions of the national economy for 2017 improve amid the electoral campaign. This view is directly linked to the presidential election, since an upturn in business expectations is expected after the results, according to Deloitte's Business Barometer.

The Barometer survey was administered to 31 senior officials from Peru’s principal companies with annual billings of US$10 million. They were given a digital questionnaire on the economic reality.

According to the poll, 80% of Peruvian firms believe the profitability of their businesses will increase over the next 12 months, “a very positive scenario taking into account that only 22% of the respondents said they saw increased profitability in the last year.”

The economic outlook projections as at April this year shows a growth from the previous Barometer Survey conducted by Deloitte in October.

“More than 70% of businessmen think the economic situation of their companies, production and profitability will reach ideal results within the next 12 months. Likewise, none of the respondents believes profitability will decline in the same period,” reads the document.

In terms of macro economy, the study highlights more thriving performances, since 23% of those surveyed believe growth has been strong in the past 12 months.
