No Dakar Rally edition can be "easy," British biker and 2017 edition winner Sam Sunderland affirmed.

"I am eager to see the dunes. I feel confident on that terrain," he said concerning the fact that the 2018 race will kick off in Peru.

"There is no easy Dakar. The route seems very complex, and we will reach the Bolivian heights following 6 days of dunes. We'll be very tired," the racer noted.

Sunderland faces the challenge of defending —in Cordova (Argentina)— the title he had won in the previous edition.

"My challenge is to win this competition for the second time. The team has done a very good job, and I hope the hard work will be rewarded," he expressed.

Remarks were made during the presentation of the event's official route in Paris.

Dakar 2018 will travel through Peru, Bolivia, and Argentina on January 6-20, 2018.

Foreign Trade and Tourism Minister Eduardo Ferreyros said hosting the Dakar 2018 in Peru translates into an impact of more than US$350 million.
