For the second time in a row, Havana will host the 2nd Peruvian Culture Festival, a meeting for all artistic expressions of the Andean country, slated for July 8-18.
Organized by the Peruvian embassy to Cuba and in cooperation with the island's Culture Ministry (MINCULT), the Festival will include exhibitions, displays of the art of cooking, as well as the 1st Peruvian Cinema Festival, scheduled for the Infanta Multiscreen Cinema.

"This Culture Festival is part of our efforts to promote cultural relations with all countries, particularly Latin American and Caribbean nations", Deputy Culture Minister Fernando Rojas pointed out in a press conference.

Peruvian ambassador to Havana, Victor Mayorga, said that there's a dynamic element to join peoples: culture. "We try to promote artistic diversity so the world, by way of this island, knows more about the immediate antecedents of Peruvian culture based on the Inca Empire", the diplomat noted.

The Festival will open with the inauguration of an exhibition of sculptures by artist Edilberto Merida, creator of the so-called indigenist expressionism.

The exhibition is composed of 20 pieces by this great master of the art of Andean communities, which will be on display at the Servando Cabrera Museum-Library starting from July 8.
