Chile was by far the largest source of tourists for Peru in 2013, with 886,485 arrivals last year, according to Andean Parliament member Hildebrando Tapia.
Tapia said Tuesday that many Chilean travelers visited the southern city of Tacna during their stay.
Chile, which lies south of Peru, was followed by the United States, with 487,328 American tourists mainly visiting the cities of Lima and Cusco.
"The Ecuadorians rank third with 208,358 arrivals, followed by the Venezuelans with 158,215 entries, and the Argentineans with 155,145," Tapia explained.
Tapia noted that foreign tourist arrivals have increased over the past five years, going from 2.13 million in 2009 to 3.16 million last year.
Peru hopes to attract over 3.6 million foreign visitors in 2014.
