The Schengen visa waiver will lead to increasing the tourist flow between Peru and the European (EU). Thus, the number of European visitors to the South American country will increase by 3% in the first year after its entry into force, the Chairman of the Chamber of Tourism (Canatur) Jorge Jochamowitz estimated today.

It must be noted Peru and EU signed an agreement to allow national citizens to enter the Eurozone without a tourist visa.

According to the Chief of the European Union diplomacy, Federica Mogherini, the visa waiver process will "become a reality by the end of the current year."

Balance

Jochamowitz indicated the said visa waiver means a "vote of confidence to Peru," which turns the country into a more attractive destination for European citizens.

The guild leader reminded some 700,000 European tourists arrived in our country in 2014.

Favorite tours

Among their favorite destinations are: Arequipa, Cuzco, Puno, Lima and the Peruvian jungle.

According to Jochamowitz, Spanish visitors account for the majority of travelers coming to Peru. These are followed by German, French, English and Italian travelers.

The President made statements after the launching the "Peruvian regions: SOUTH" (Perú Regiones: SUR) fair. It will be held in our nation’s capital on August 25.
