Peruvian government-funded scholarship program Beca 18 achieved the highest quality standard after being awarded ISO 9001: 2008 certification by the International Organization for Standardization, based in Geneva, Switzerland

Beca 18 certified its solicitation, selection and award procedures at national level, thus ensuring maximum transparency of this social program.

ISO 9001:2008 is the most established quality framework in the world and sets out the criteria for a quality management system that can be used by any organization, large or small, regardless of its field of activity.

In fact ISO 9001:2008 is implemented by over one million companies and organizations in over 170 countries.

This certification guarantees the Beca 18 process reliability and high quality standards, which benefits thousands of talented students across the country that are already enrolled in science and technology programs.

Launched in late 2011, Beca 18 gives university scholarships for studies in Peru to underprivileged young people who are chosen for their academic excellence in the public education system.

The disadvantaged students are also offered bursaries to study at international universities. The program seeks out Peruvians from poor backgrounds and scholarships cover not only the cost of tuition fees, but also living and equipment costs.
