Undoubtedly, Easter Week in the city of Ayacucho, located in the south-central Andes, is one of the most famous religious festivities in Peru and this time, this beautiful city expects to attract over 15,000 domestic and foreign tourists. According to Regional Directorate of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Dircetur), arrangements have been made with various sectors in order to receive a large influx of visitors and to provide more security in the city.

Carlos Oriendo, head of Directur noted that some residents are preparing their homes to provide rooms and offer some services as many hotels will be fully-booked during these festivities.

Thus, Oriendo noted that visitors can visit Ayacucho's main attractions such as the archaeological complex of Wari, Pikimachay, Vilcashuamán  and enjoy the delicious local cuisine.

Moreover, he highlighted the city is not only known for its amazing architecture and landmark destinations but also for its celebrations of the people's deep religious beliefs which can be seen in their 10 day-progroam of Easter Week.

Easter Week's main activities in Ayacucho will begin on Friday before Palm Sunday, with the enactment of the meeting between Christ and his mother, the Virgen Dolorosa.
