ASPA ministerial meeting aims to improve educational quality

The main purpose of the ongoing Second Meeting of Education Ministers of South American and Arab countries (ASPA) is to achieve the continued improvement in educational quality through the implementation of the Kuwait Action Plan. The Peruvian Education Minister Patricia Salas said Wednesday the plan provides an strategic framework the implement the educational activities adopted at the first edition of this forum, held in Kuwait on November 29-30, 2011.

"The common goal of this instrument is to foster human development and mutual cooperation between both regions," Salas told Andina news agency.

The strategic plan outlines three objectives: promoting the dissemination of information on education policies applied in the two regions, enhancing cooperation between the two regions to promote the exchange of successful experiences of good practices and expertice in the field of education and scientific research.

Likewise, it seeks to promote the language learning of Arabic, Spanish and Portuguese among citizens of South America and the Arab countries.

Peru was chosen as the venue of this year's edition of the ASPA education ministerial meeting which started Wednesday, Oct. 2, and runs through Friday, Oct. 4.
