Argentina's president arrives in Peru to attend ASPA Summit

Argentina's President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner arrived in Lima, Peru, where she will participate in the 3rd Summit of South American-Arab Countries (ASPA) on Tuesday.

She was welcomed at the Grupo Aéreo Nº 8 air base by Peru's Justice Minister Eda Rivas and officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Fernandez de Kirchner was the fifth South American president to arrive in the Peruvian capital for the III ASPA Summit, after Bolivia's Evo Morales, Uruguay's Jose Mujica, Colombia's Juan Manuel Santos and Chile's Sebastian Piñera.

The South American countries that are members of ASPA are: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Paraguay, Peru, Surinam, Uruguay and Venezuela.

Meanwhile, the member countries of the Arab League are Bahrain, Algeria, Comoros, Egypt, United Arab Emirates, Irak, Jordan, Kuwait, Libya, Lebanon, Mauritania, Morocco, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, Yemen and Djibouti.

Peru’s Foreign Minister Rafael Roncagliolo on Monday opened the foreign ministers meeting of the 3rd ASPA Summit in Lima. Alongside the main meeting, Lima is also hosting the third ASPA Business Summit, which was formally opened on Monday by Peruvian President Ollanta Humala.
