Argentina’s Foreign Minister Hector Timerman is due to arrive in Peruvian capital Lima for an official visit on Friday in response to Peruvian Foreign Minister's invitation, which comes after his predecessor’s visit to Buenos Aires last May.

Timerman’s visit is taking place after the 2nd Political Affairs Subcommittee meeting of the Peru-Argentina General Directorate of Integration and Policy Coordination.

This subcommittee is chaired by Ambassador Carlos Pareja, Director-General for America of the Peruvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs; and Ambassador Diego Tettamanti, Under Secretary of Latin American Policy of the Argentinean Foreign Ministry.

According to a Peru Ministry of Foreign Affairs statement, Argentine Foreign Minister's visit and the aforementioned meeting reaffirm the commitment of both countries to strengthen and deepen bilateral relations.

“This strengthening of bilateral ties takes place within the framework of he Strategic Partnership Agreement signed in 2010," said Argentine ambassador in Lima, Dario Alessandro.

This strategic partnership mainly aims at boosting bilateral relations at the highest level, so that every bilateral and common approach is given first-order priority.
