The tourist flow to Colca Valley located in Southern Peru’s Arequipa region increased by 10% in the January to July period from a year earlier, the State-run Colca Valley Autonomous Authority (Autocolca) announced.

Autocolca Manager Jorge Condori said the tourism promotion efforts are leading to achieve expected results and to record larger numbers of tourists in the area.

During the first seven months of this year, 105,313 visitors arrived at the site.

At the end of the year 200,000 are expected to have visited the site. In 2014, 185,000 tourists arrived in the area (among domestic and foreign tourists).

The Colca Valley is situated four hours away from the city of Arequipa.
