The Algerian delegation, headed by the President of the Senate Abdelkader Bensalah, arrived in Peru Saturday afternoon to attend the Third Summit of Heads of State and Government of South America - Arab Countries (ASPA) on October 1 and 2.
Abdelkader Bensalah, whose position is equivalent to vice president of Algeria, expressed his country's willingness to contribute to making the III ASPA Summit a "big success".
"I come with greetings from the President of the Republic of Algeria to the Peruvian people and his friend President of the Republic, Ollanta Humala Tasso," he said.
He arrived at 16.19 hours on Saturday at Jorge Chavez International Airport and headed to the nearby Grupo Aéreo Nº 8 air base, where he was welcomed with high honors.
The official delegations of Palestine and Suriname were the first to arrive today in Lima to participate in the 3rd ASPA Summit.
According to the schedule, Anwar Mohammad Gargas, UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs; the Yemeni delegation, led by its ambassador to Cuba, Yayha Mohamed Ahmed Al-Sayaghi; and the Djibouti delegation, headed by its head of mission in La Havana, Ayeid Mousseid Yayha will be arriving in Lima in the next few hours.
League of Arab States Secretary General Nabil Elaraby, the Emir of Qatar His Highness Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani, and Libia's Foreign Minister Ashour S. Ben Khaial are also expected tonight.
