The National Institute of Statistics (INEI) reported that the agriculture sector production increased by 8.13% in June compared to the same month last year, due to the positive behavior of agriculture and livestock subsectors, which grew by 9.04% and 6.13%, respectively.
This way the sector has experienced two months of consecutive growth, the institute informed.
This growth was driven by increased production of paddy rice (49.40%), coffee (11.36%), avocado (14.32), hard bellow corn (9.91%), asparagus (6.32%), potato (4.40%), cocoa (3.08%) and sugar cane (1.93%), as well as by greater crop areas, the availability of water resource and weather factors that favored crop yields.
However, there was a decline in the production of cotton (-49.82%), artichoke (-36.83), onion (-17.54%) and banana (-11.02%).
The livestock sector showed an increase in the production of poultry (9.92%), eggs (5.81%), pig (4.24%), fresh milk (2.78%), sheep (1.27%) and cattle (0.16%).
