The quake struck at 07:40 hours (12:40 GMT) and was also felt in Lima, capital of Peru.
Its epicenter was at 11 kilometers south of Pisco, IGP reported.
No damages or injuries have been reported so far.
Peru is geographically located in the so-called Ring of Fire Pacific Ocean, where 85 percent of global seismic activity occurs.
