A stronger investment commitment totaling US$ 11 billion for large-scale infrastructure projects in Peru will further promote social inclusion, employment creation and the enhancement of citizens’ well being, Peruvian Prime Minister Ana Jara has said.

Speaking at the debate in parliament to get the vote of confidence, the senior Ollanta Humala administration official stated that most of the massive spending projects are due to be undertaking in the coming years through the usage of the Public-Private partnership (PPP) scheme.

“This serves as successful examples of joint participation in the provision of basic public services to the population at a national level,” the newly-appointed Chief of Peru’s Ministerial Cabinet noted.

Furthermore, Jara stressed the US$ 11 billion worth of projects are expected to foster structural reforms in nation’s key areas of education, health and citizen safety, marking a breakthrough and road map for the following governments.

“This investment will improve citizens’ quality of live across all the country’s inner regions through the construction of enhanced road networks and health facilities as well as the creation of more formal employment,” she said in her address to lawmakers on Wednesday in Lima.

With a speech aimed at showcasing the broader set of priorities under her upcoming administration, the Prime Minister pointed out these investments could increase with the latest government proposal consisting of Public Works for Tax Deduction.

Public Works for Tax Deduction encourages private companies to finance and execute prioritized public investment projects in infrastructure. The amount invested by companies will be later deducted up to 50 percent of their Income Tax of the previous year.

“This measure will be carried out in order to promote the implementation of public investment projects in health, education and public order and safety,” Jara said, adding, "It is estimated that investments by sectors under this scheme benefit a million and a half Peruvians in the first year of its implementation".
