Universal health insurance marks revolutionary step in Peru’s health care services
Registration will begin in upper parts of Huaycan

Lima, Jul. 10 (ANDINA). The establishment of universal health insurance coverage for Lima and Callao, which seeks to provide access to quality health care for some 10 million citizens, marks a "revolutionary" step in Peru’s health care services, President Alan Garcia announced.

"I want to say that a revolutionary period in the history of our country begins on Friday. Nobody must be without health insurance coverage in Lima and Callao that house 10 million inhabitants."

Peruvian leader announced that the insurance coverage registration will begin in upper parts of Huaycan, a suburb of Lima, Peru, located in Ate District.

"Registration process will begin here, in the highlands so you can have operations and get medicines in case of sickness and pain," he said at the opening of a large retaining wall project in that area.
