President Gloria Macapagal will participate in the Leaders’ Week of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Forum, to be held from November 17 to 22, and will take the opportunity to carry out other activities, including the opening of this park.

The park's opening ceremony will take place on Friday 21, at 16:00 (21:00 GMT) in the intersection of the avenues La Floresta and Paseo Los Eucaliptos, local authorities reported Monday.

Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, 60, is president of the Philippines since 2001 and was reelected in 2004. She is the second woman to hold this position and she belongs to Kampi party.

Dr. José P. Rizal (full name: José Protasio Mercado Rizal y Alonso Realonda) (June 19, 1861 – December 30, 1896) was a Filipino polymath, nationalist and the most prominent advocate for reforms in the Philippines during the Spanish colonial era.

He is considered the Philippines' national hero and the anniversary of Rizal's death is commemorated as a Philippine holiday called Rizal Day. Rizal's 1896 military trial and execution made him a martyr of the Philippine Revolution.
