Attending the opening ceremony will be Deputy Minister of Cultural Heritage and Cultural Industries, Bernardo Roca Rey, and archaeologist Carmen Thays, who was in charge of the restoration of the Paracas textiles with the support of French experts.

A magnificent collection of fifteen Paracas textiles and several ceramics will be on display through the end of the year. The exhibition will also feature an interactive area for children.

In addition, guided tours will be available allowing visitors to gain a better understanding of these textiles, a major aspect of the ancient Paracas culture which inhabited the Chincha, Pisco and Ica valleys from 600 BC to the first centuries AD.

These woven textiles are now known as some of the finest ever produced by pre-Columbian Andean societies, and are the primary works of art by which Paracas is known.
