16:15 Peru, Ecuador to work on joint pro-development strategy in border area

Lima, Feb. 19 (ANDINA). The upcoming meeting of the Peru-Ecuador binational cabinet will serve to discuss a proposal to promote social inclusion and economic development in their shared border region.

"Both countries are keen to talk about social inclusion, which is not the only issue, but definitely the most significant one as it concerns our common priorities and strategies," said Peru's Minister of Social Inclusion and Development, Carolina Trivelli.

Representatives of the two governments will focus on issues related to the quality of education, the fight against chronic child malnutrition, primary health care, and children living in poor and vulnerable areas, especially in the border area, she added.

The meeting will be held on Wednesday, February 29, in northern Peru's Chiclayo city.

"We want to join efforts to create a proposal of cross-border relationship characterised by development and not differences," Trivelli noted.
