"Peru is becoming a world-class supplier, we even believe that it will become a major fruit and vegetable exporter in the medium and long term," he said.
Adex's president Jose Silva said irrigation technologies are helping local producers to transform deserts along the Peruvian coast into productive, fertile valleys.
"We will be able to supply the world with a variety of products all year long," he added.
In addition, Silva noted that there is the possibility to bring and acclimatize new fruits and vegetables from other parts of the world, and then start producing them.
“Peru’s main export products, asparagus and paprika, did not exist in the country some 25 years ago,” he said.
