  • Cusco, Feb. 05 (ANDINA).- British rock group The Police guitarist Andy Summers traveled last month to the Andean city of Cusco, in southeastern Peru, to visit the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu, one of the new seven wonders of the modern world.

Guitarist Andy Summers stayed in the best suite of Inkaterra Machu Picchu Hotel, the same room where famous U.S. actress Cameron Diaz was lodged during her June 2007 visit to Machu Picchu.

The Suite Inkaterra has a personal garden and covered terrace, pool, extra-large canopied lounger and outdoor shower. Nearly 1,900 ft2 of beautifully appointed space includes an expansive sleeping area with king bed, 100 pct cotton sheets and additional seating; a second room features a gracious area for working or relaxing, as well as dining for four in front of an open fireplace.

Summers, accompanied by photographer Lawrence Impey, not only toured the ancient Inca citadel but also appreciated the orchids, landscape and birds near the hotel.

Before leaving for Puno to visit Lake Titicaca, the world's highest navigable lake, Summers spent some time touring Cusco city and stayed in Inkaterra La Casona Hotel.
