U.S. sees Peru fully committed in combating drug trafficking
Lima, Jul. 16 (ANDINA). The United States sees Peru's strong commitment in fighting against drug trafficking as this government has implemented a new comprehensive strategy to combat this scourge and increased its seizures of cocaine, said US Ambassador to Peru, Rose M. Likins.

Likins stressed that the new government's anti-drug strategy includes problems like demand, prevention, prohibition of drugs and money laundering.
"We have seen that in the last year the number of cocaine seizures has increased, we have seized nearly 15 metric tons in 2012," she said in an interview with Peruvian television program Cuarto Poder.
He noted that the international anti-drug conference, organized by Peru in Lima two weeks ago, was an unprecedented effort and highlighted the participation of 70 delegations from 61 countries and nine international organizations.
Ambassador Likins said that the bilateral relations between Peru and the U.S. is "excellent" in issues related to drug trafficking, which both countries are working together.
