Other countries in the same situation include Mexico, Brazil and Chile, the famed singer said when asked if Latin America was an alternative to Europe for cultural events.
"There is an audience here, why not?" the opera star added.
He said the cultural issues should not be neglected because of economic problems, as it is essential to mankind.
"With government support, we can appeal to the private sector. It is an excellent combination,” he stated.
The Spanish tenor has arrived in Peru to perform at the newly-built National Grand Theater in Lima.
The theater was officially inaugurated on July 12, during a ceremony that included President Ollanta Humala and First Lady Nadine Heredia.
