09:27 FAO to name Peru's first lady quinoa special ambassador today
 
Lima, Feb. 20 (ANDINA). Peru's First Lady Nadine Heredia will receive the designation of Special Ambassador to the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) for the International Year of Quinoa 2013 on Wednesday, Feb 20.

At the event, which will be chaired by FAO Director General Jose Graziano da Silva, Bolivia's President Evo Morales will be also named special ambassador.

The first lady’s distinction takes place in the context of the official launching ceremony of International Year of Quinoa.

The ceremony will be held at the United Nations headquarters in New York.

Quinoa is recognized and accepted around the world as a natural food resource with high nutritional value of Andean origin.
