POLITICAL SYSTEM OF PERU

The political system of Peru is based on a constitutional republic with the President as the head of the state as well as the head of government. The President of Peru serves for a term of five years and can not be re-elected for a consecutive term. The Executive branch is composed by the Peruvian president and the Council of Ministers; Peru's Legislative branch has a unicameral Congress; and the Judicial branch is headed by the Supreme Court of Peru’s republic.
