Peruvian President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski highlighted the State Council session held on Friday morning at Lima’s Government Palace, pointing out the government is fighting against corruption and crime.
"The State Council is a legal body, and we are fighting against corruption and crime. We've held dialogues with the Attorney General, as well as the Judiciary President," he declared.
Said event saw the presence of Prime Minister Fernando Zavala, Justice Minister Marisol Perez Tello, Judiciary President Victor Ticona and Attorney-General Pablo Sanchez.
When consulted on Congress Chairwoman Luz Salgado's absence, the Head of State denied it was a slight. "She simply couldn't come; that's it," he said.
Remarks were made following a lunch meeting with former Peruvian President Alan Garcia (1985-1990; 2006-2011) at the latter's Lima home.
"It was a friendly meeting. I've asked him various questions about his political career, which is long. We've talked about Peruvian history, Lima's Center, Pachacamac, Cusco and many other interesting things," Mr. Kuczynski said.
"I shared my experiences as Central Reserve manager back in the 60s with him, as well as my negotiations with Haya de la Torre [deceased politician] in 1968," he added.
Peru's leader also remarked that, despite some setbacks, the government is moving forward. As is known, President Kuczynski took office on July 28.
