U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Public Affairs David Duckenfield will speak at the annual meeting for communications teams and directors, Edircom 2017, set to be held 26-27 January in Lima.
Duckenfield will arrive in the Peruvian capital after an audience with U.S. President-elect Donald Trump, with whom he discussed immigration policy issues, Edircom organizers affirmed.
In such event, held by the Political Communication and Government Institute (ICPG), Duckenfield will address government communication-related challenges and difficulties, based on his expertise as part of President Obama's communications staff.
Edircom 2017 will gather 700 communication directors, leading officials, spokesmen and communication teams from public and private institutions across the country.
The event will also feature national and international lecturers such as Ricardo Amado, professor at George Washington University (U.S.); German Trejo, Political and Foreign Affairs Strategist (U.S and Latin America); Laura Castellanos, Venezuelan journalist at CNN en Español; Santiago Martinez, senior communication strategist in Spain from Camilo Jose Cela University and; Edgar Ospina from Colombia.
The topics to be discussed this year are: government and institutional communication, predicaments of moving from the news media to institutional communication, structural analysis of communication offices in the country, last eGovernment trends in the digital era, and the boom of social networking sites.
Other themes include public management challenges and issues facing the State Procurement Law, and results of the first national survey on public communications, held by Datum.
A high academic level is expected, and the meeting is intended to bring together the most prominent speakers and experts on institutional and government communication.
