Peru's "Include to Grow" strategy is a successful model to be followed in Latin America, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) top economist for Latin America George Gray said.
The program will contribute to creating more development opportunities.
In this sense, it is necessary to implement public policies aimed at strengthening social protection and assistance systems, labor skills, as well as physical and financial assets, Gray considered.
Strengthening these spheres will prevent the country from "going backwards" on progress made so far on poverty reduction.
The UNDP report also recognizes the great progress in regional poverty decrease registered in recent years. It has allowed over 70 million people to leave the condition behind.
Peru, along with Ecuador and Bolivia, is one of the nations that moved forward over the previous decade thanks to cutting-edge social policies.
The report was presented at an event attended by Development and Social Inclusion Minister Paola Bustamante, UNDP Deputy Representative Enrique Vasquez, specialist Maria Eugenia Mujica and UN Resident Coordinator in Peru Maria del Carmen Sacasa.
