Lima, Jun. 25 (ANDINA).
Culture ministers of the Union of South American Nations (Unasur) are scheduled to meet in Peru on Tuesday to discuss and approve their policies and plan of activities for this year.

The ministers will also discuss issues related to the Common Initiatives Fund (CIF) and the launch of projects to promote cultural heritage, like the Expreso Sur and Banco de Contenidos Audiovisuales projects.

The First Meeting of the South American Culture Council will be held at the headquarters of Peru's Ministry of Culture in the Lima district of San Borja.

A Declaration of Commitment on tackling illicit trafficking of cultural property across the region is expected to be adopted at today's meeting in the Peruvian capital.

Peru, which holds the pro tempore presidency of the 12-member bloc, has stressed the importance of regional integration, outlining the key role of culture towards this objective.

Unasur is composed of Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Peru, Paraguay (suspended since June 2012), Suriname, Uruguay and Venezuela.
