UN Secretary General to participate at WBG/IMF Meetings

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon will arrive in Lima on Thursday to participate at the Annual Meetings of Word Bank Group (WBG) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF), currently underway in Lima.

Likewise, the UN officer will hold a meeting with Peruvian President Ollanta Humala.

Besides gathering with South Korean WBG President Jim Yong Kim, Ban plans to participate in several events comprised in the financial event.

He will attend the Development Committee Discussion on "The World Bank Group Support for the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development," the Ministerial Meeting on Climate Change and the Small States Forum.

Peru has become the capital of world’s economy thanks to the Annual Meetings of the Boards of Governors of  WBG/IMF, which gather over 20,000 visitors, such as Finance Ministers, Central Banks Chairmen and high-level representatives from over 180 countries.

Ban will remain in Peru thru Saturday.
