Presidente de Turquía, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, se reunión con el presidente Humala en Palacio de Gobierno.
Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan expressed his desire to enhance bilateral trade with Peru, from US$260 million in 2015 to US$1 billion over the next years, following a trade agreement between the two nations.
He said Peruvian President Ollanta Humala is willing to do so, too and that they both reviewed the potential of bilateral ties while meeting at the Government Palace.
“Peru-Turkey bilateral trade volume was US$260 million in 2015, and we want it to rise to US$1 billion. This is a common goal, which is why I am so happy,” he was quoted as saying in a joint statement with the Peruvian President.
Mr. Erdogan said he and President Humala have discussed cooperation on defense, military, trade, infrastructure, education, tourism, culture, and political matters.
He also highlighted the progress of Peru in the energy field and revealed his future plan to develop programs in the sector.
“We know the opportunities in Peru’s energy sector and natural resources and; we have identified which joint projects can be executed,” he stated.
The Turkish leader is confident bilateral relations will develop further in the medium term despite their relatively recent establishment —both countries embassies became operational in 2010— therefore, he considers it extremely important to foster the private sector and investments.
