Peru will host the 17th Trans-Andean Youth Sport Games (JUDEJUT) from 24th May to 28th with the participation of five provinces from Chile, three from Bolivia and five from Peru —Argentina is not participating this year.

The opening of such an important event, to see 2455 athletes competing in several sports, will take place at Jorge Basadre Stadium in Tacna, southern Peru.

The closing ceremony will be held at the coliseum of Casa de Juventud in Cusco on Saturday at 18:00 hrs local time.

Athletes will compete in the following disciplines: track and field, basketball (male and female), road race, artistic gymnastics, judo, swimming, taekwondo, table tennis and volleyball (male and female).

This year’s edition will bring together participants from Chile (including representatives from Arica, Parinacota, Tarapaca, Antofagasta, Atacama and Coquimbo regions), Bolivia (from Chuquisaca, Oruro and Potosi departments), and Peruvian delegations from Arequipa, Cusco, Moquegua, Puno and Tacna regions.

The Trans-Andean Youth Sport Games is a corporation composed of regional government agencies from the central Andean region of South America, which has been endorsed by the Letter of Agreement inked on August 22, 1997 in Arequipa, Peru.

Delegations from the aforementioned Andean nations compete against each other, and the competition spirit encourages each region, province or department to earn the first spot. Arequipa has taken first place 14 out of the 16 previous editions.

Disciplines will be held at different venues across the country.

Arequipa: Basketball (male)

Cusco: Swimming, track and field, judo, taekwondo

Moquegua: Volleyball (male)

Puno: Volleyball (male and female)

Tacna: Gymnastics, road race, basketball (female), table tennis.
