The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) on Wednesday affirmed President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski's trip to Europe contributes to Peru's aim to become an OECD member by 2021.

"This initiative [the trip] goes hand-in-hand with President Kuczynski's desire for Peru to join the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development [OECD] before the end of his term in office," EIU analyst Fernando Freijedo told Andina news agency.

In this sense, Freijedo underlined the statesman's visit to France and Spain will show his commitment to Peru's integration into the world.

The EIU representative also highlighted the trip would allow Mr. Kuczynski to attract more investments to the Andean nation.

President Kuczynski currently pays an official visit to France, where he is to meet with President Emmanuel Macron and give a keynote speech at OECD's 2017 International Economic Forum on Latin America and the Caribbean

His Europe trip —running thru June 14— will also include a visit to Spain, where he will be welcomed by President of the Government Mariano Rajoy and His Majesty King Felipe VI.

The OECD is an international cooperation organization founded in 1960 with the purpose of coordinating economic and social policies among its members.

The organization is headquartered in Paris, where its 35 Member Countries' representatives meet to exchange information and harmonize policies to maximize economic growth and contribute to the development of both member and non-member nations.
