Spain remains interested in investing in Peru, the South American country's Ambassador to Madrid Rafael Roncagliolo informed.

Last Tuesday, a meeting organized by Peru’s Export and Tourism Promotion Board (PromPeru) saw the participation of over 190 Spanish entrepreneurs, many of them interested in the concession of Toro Macho railway project to connect Andean cities of Huancayo and Huancavelica.

According to the official, Spain sees Peru as "a country with possibilities ahead" to continue making progress.

"What I mean is there are great expectations for Peru. Spain has become the largest private investor in the country [...]. That is being proved by the presence of many Spanish enterprises," Rocagliolo told Andina news agency.

Entrepreneurs are also interested in projects such as the Southern Gas Pipeline, Lima’s Metro Line and other tourism-sector concessions, he pointed out.

Forum on Food Tourism

On Wednesday, the Peruvian Government and World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) signed a covenant to allow the Inca nation to host the 2nd UN World Forum on Food Tourism in Lima on April 27th-29th.

The event was considered as relevant as the Annual Meetings of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund held in Peru last year.
