11:13 Social inclusion to promote development of tourism and Andean communities
 
Lima, Jun. 29 (ANDINA). As part of the social inclusion policy of the Peruvian government, Andean communities participate in tourism development by producing organic food, the National Director of Tourism, Amora Carbajal said Friday.

Carbajal said that tourism is a platform for rural communities to make themselves known and visitors will be satisfied with the quality products offered by tour operators, like hotels and restaurants, which buy products directly from farmers.

The program "Al turista, lo nuestro" to be launched in July, 2012 by Peru's Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) seeks farmers not depend on certain crops (corn, wheat and potato), but other products with more demand so these products can be included in the production chain.

We are sure that with good products and training they receive to improve their products, farmers will not only supply tour operators, but also markets in Cusco and stores nationwide, she told Andina news agency.
