The execution of large projects awarded in the past few years will bring a greater dynamism to the private investment in 2015 and 2016, said Carlos Herrera, CEO at Peru’s Private Investment Promotion Agency (ProInversion).

Some of the major projects include the Line 2 of the Lima and Callao Metro (US$5.9 billion), the Peru’s Southern Gas Pipeline (US$4.3 billion), the International Airport of Chinchero (US$634 million), the Moyobamba-Iquitos Transmission Line (US$589 million) and the third phase of the Chavimochic project (US$677 million).

“In addition, the private sector is expected to announce investments in hydrocarbons, mining, manufacture, electricity, among others,” he noted in his speech at the monthly economic breakfast held by the American Chamber of Commerce of Peru (AmCham Peru).

According to Herrera, all this will encourage the private investment in Peru in the following years.

ProInversion CEO also presented the portfolio’s main projects to be awarded in 2015-16, which will further strengthen the country's investment opportunities.

Among the principal projects mentioned were the regional implementation of a high-capacity fiber optic network and an access network (microwaves), the concession of three 698–806 MHz band blocks to provide nationwide 4G broadband internet access services, and the concession for a 200 Mw thermal power station to be located in Quillabamba.
