Peru’s President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski today reiterated his commitment to overcoming organized crime and extortion, given that security is one of the big challenges faced by his government.
Extortions and robberies is something people live with every day on the roads, rivers and civil construction projects, the Head of State said as he delivered patrol cars to the police.
“We have to end this,” he exclaimed during the ceremony held at the National Police of Peru's Superior Technical School in Lima's Puente Piedra district.
The country's top official praised Interior Minister Carlos Basombrio, Police head Vicente Romero, Foreign Affairs Minister Ricardo Luna and Comptroller Edgar Alarcon for their work undertaken to lift observations on the acquisition of patrol cars during the previous administration.
"That was a good purchase […]. Problems have been solved. I hope the 2152 patrol cars will hit the streets soon […]," he stated.
On the matter, Minister Basombrio stressed that thanks to negotiations with the supplier, radio and communication system placement will be conducted by the firm at no cost to the State.
