Peru continues to be one of the most dynamic economies in the region and, despite the global slowdown, will see a 3% increase, which is above region’s average, said Peruvian President Ollanta Humala on Tuesday.

He said that even though the Latin America’s GDP growth rate ranges from 1% to 1.2% on a downward trend, Peru will surpass that rate and, in 2015, will see growth higher than 5%, according to estimates of international organizations.

He went on to add that the government has worked throughout the year on a number of measures designed to revive the economy by developing a short-term strategy and a medium/long-term strategy, such as the actions intended to promote consumption and inject liquidity into the market.

“We have provided an extraordinary bonus in July and made progress in implementing the reforms in the Army and National Police,” he noted in statements to international media at the government palace.

As for the aforementioned medium/long-term strategy, Mr. Humala said there has been progress has been made, regarding reforms in the health and education sectors, as well as in the National Plan for Productive Diversification; a government-created program aimed at providing development alternatives that ensure the country’s economic growth despite economic downturn.
