Pope Francis on Monday affirmed it was good for him to have met with the fervor of Peruvians, as he thanked all those who had made the papal trip possible.

"I thank all those who have made this trip possible. It has been good for me to meet with you. Thank you," he wrote on Twitter.

The Pope departed Peru last Sunday following a 4-day stay in our country.

He arrived in the capital city of Lima on Thursday afternoon.

During his Friday trip to Puerto Maldonado, His Holiness carried out a series of activities involving native communities and other residents of the rainforest area.

On Saturday, he visited La Libertad region's capital, Trujillo, where he led an open-air mass at Huanchaco Beach, held an ecclesiastical meeting with religious authorities, and presided over a Marian celebration before heading back to Lima.

Sunday —the last day of his trip— included a series of activities in the Peruvian capital, such as a meeting with cloistered nuns at Las Nazarenas Church, visits to the city's Cathedral and the Archbishop's Palace, as well as a multitudinous Holy Mass at Las Palmas Air Base.
