A little fan of Peru's national soccer team managed to get his jersey signed by Pope Francis.

Such event took place in the Vatican during a lunch on the occasion of the World Day of the Poor.

The child —who was wearing a jersey stamped with Paolo Guerrero's name and number 9 on the back— slipped through the Pope's security.

As is known, the Supreme Pontiff was greeting faithful devotees gathered at the site when —suddenly— a security agent tried to stop the boy by grabbing him by the arm.

Nevertheless, the child managed to make visual contact with the Pope, who greeted him by patting on his shoulder, smiling at him, and rubbing his head.

In that moment, the boy showed His Holiness a pen, and the Head of the Church agreed to affix his signature on the child's jersey.

The video has been shared on Twitter by Aci Prensa (Catholic news agency).

As is known, Pope Francis will visit Peru in January, 2018.

Peru at the World Cup tournament

As is known, Peru managed to qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia. Thus, celebrations go beyond the Inca country's borders.

In this sense, many Peruvians —based around the globe— are still celebrating their team's victory by carrying flags and wearing national soccer jerseys.
